Christophe Golay
Senior Research Fellow at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, and its Strategic Adviser on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Formerly legal adviser to the first UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Jean Ziegler. Author of the standard reference works on the international legal framework of the right to food and on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants (UNDROP).
Why he matters here
Golay’s scholarship is the point at which the two intellectual traditions this resource sits between, the right to food and the right to health, are already treated as one continuous object. His work is the direct legal counterpart to the physiological argument.
