Director of the Center for Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Michael and Charles Barnett Endowed Chair in Pediatric Mitochondrial Medicine. Founder of the discipline of mitochondrial medicine, and author of the argument that a large fraction of the chronic disease burden of industrialized societies is a burden of energy metabolism that classical genetic and pharmacological categories cannot see.
