Lancet Commission on Investing in Health
Commission first reporting in 2013 (Global Health 2035) and again in 2024 (Global Health 2050), successor to the 1993 World Bank report Investing in Health that established the disability-adjusted life year (DALY) as the international currency of health-policy analysis.
Why it matters here
This Commission is the institutional custodian of the DALY framework, the framework in which international health decisions are argued and defended. A physiological rights argument that names, as its object, biological parameters not currently costed in DALY analyses is asking, at bottom, for a revision of the accounting scheme the Commission maintains. That is the structural adjacency to name.
