Leonardo Trasande

Jim G. Hendrick Professor of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and director of the Center for the Investigation of Environmental Hazards. Author of a long series of cost-of-illness analyses that quantify, in economic terms, the burden of neurological, metabolic and reproductive disease attributable to environmental chemical exposures at levels that are not classified as toxic under existing thresholds.

Why he matters here

Trasande converts an argument on physiological ranges into an argument in the language public authorities respond to, namely the language of avoidable population cost. His work is the counterpart, on the exposure side, of the argument this resource makes on the intake and reference-range side.
