Secretary General of FIAN International, the human rights organization dedicated exclusively to the right to adequate food and nutrition. FIAN was central to the drafting process of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Right to Food adopted by the FAO in 2004, and to the more recent United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants (UNDROP).

Why she matters here

FIAN is the institutional locus of the international right-to-food movement, and the natural interlocutor for a physiological rights argument that presents itself as an operationalization of the right to adequate food. It is a place at which the argument, if it is well-framed, would be recognized rather than resisted.
